The project titled “USAID: Extending Comprehensive HIV Services for KP in Humera Project” is being implemented at Wolkait Tegedie Setit Humera Zone of Amhara National Regional States.
Project Goal
Contribute to sustained HIV epidemic control in Humera and Alamata and surrounding towns affected by the conflict
Objectives:
- Improve HIV case identification in Humera, Alamata and other major HIV hot spot sites/towns such as Korem, Dansha and others affected by the conflict and currently under control of the Amhara Regional State through innovative HIV testing approaches, including index case testing/partner notification services (ICT/PNS), social network strategy (SNS), targeted outreach testing, and assisted and unassisted HIV self-testing HIVST);
- Improve access to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to KP/PP in the intervention towns through a community distribution model.
- Increased access to ART and improved coverage in Humera, Alamata and surrounding hot spot sites through provision of differentiated care models for KPs/PPs along with government, private and NGO health facilities.
- Identify LTFU (due the social disruptions) and link them to care, support adherence and link them to other social services.
- Improve viral load literacy in priority towns by providing counselling service.
- Provide integrated SRH/GBV services at outreach sites in priority towns.
The technical Areas of the project include;
- Address KP/PPs with individual or small group-level HIV prevention interventions
- Strengthening DICs in selected towns & provide full package HIV prevention, testing & treatment
- Provision of non-discriminatory friendly services inclusive of HTS, STI,GBV & RH services
