Network of Charitable Associations of HIV Positives for Health and Development (NAPHAD) was established on April 8, 2005 as Network of Charitable Societies of HIV Positives Associations in Amhara (NAP+) following the impacts of HIV/ADIS on PLHIVs, families of PLHIVs, OVCs and the community of Amhara region at large. NAPHAD legally registered as a local NGO in 2005 by the Regional Justice Office and re-registered in June 2011 by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Charities and Societies Agency as Ethiopia Residents Charity Consortium under licence number 2348. In accordance with organizations of civil societies proclamation No.1113/2019, NAPHAD again re-registered by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Agency for Civil Society Organizations under licence number 2348 on 22/07/2019 as a local organization.
As a regional umbrella network has a mission of improving the well-being of the society through provision of comprehensive and quality health and development services by establishing effective advocacy, networking and partnership with different development actors and it envisions to see healthy, empowered and productive society entertaining with their most essential needs with improved quality of lives. The organization is guided by core values like transparency, accountability, inclusiveness, gender sensitivity, participation and collaboration including multi-sectoralsims
NAPHAD has engaged in various health and development programmes including livelihood improvement, women empowerment, capacity building, Sexual and reproductive health, ACM are some of its programs.
Its organizational structure consists of three bodies; General Assembly, Executive Board and the Executive management in which the GA is supreme governing body of the organization. It has three departments: Program, Finance and Administration and M&E departments with experienced & qualified staff. NAPHAD has also 1,253 HIV+ volunteers working in the community.
Among the donors, GF &CDC through NEP+, SCI-E, PSI-E, MSH, DCA and ViiV Healthcare: PACF are some of the partners. It also works in close collaboration with government bodies at all levels. And guided core values like: Confidentiality, Inclusiveness, Accountability, Gender Sensitivity and Collaboration & Cooperation
