Humera Tihut Medium Clinic Initiative Launched to Expand Integrated Healthcare Services
Network of Charitable Associations of HIV Positives for Health and Development (NAPHAD), in collaboration with PSI/Ethiopia, has launched a new initiative under the EpiC Project – Ethiopia, titled “A Sustainable Community-Based Cost-Share Model for HIV Clinics.” This project is being implemented in the Wolkayit Tegede Setit Humera Zone, within Humera City Administration, since 01 October 2025.
The initiative aims to strengthen access to quality, integrated primary healthcare services for vulnerable and at-risk populations. It specifically targets key and priority populations (KP/PP) and individuals living with chronic illnesses. Beneficiaries include partners of female sex workers, spouses of key populations, children born to women living with HIV or other chronic conditions, and family members sharing similar vulnerabilities, as well as partners of people living with HIV.
Through this project, a total of 3,908 direct beneficiaries and 11,724 indirect beneficiaries are expected to benefit from improved healthcare services. The intervention focuses on delivering comprehensive and integrated services, including HIV prevention and treatment, sexual and reproductive health (SRH), non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and gender-based violence (GBV) support.
By introducing a sustainable, community-based cost-sharing model, the project seeks to enhance service delivery, strengthen local health systems, and ensure long-term accessibility of essential healthcare services. This initiative aligns with Ethiopia’s national health priorities and contributes to improving the overall well-being of vulnerable communities in the region.
